An easy and delicious recipe for healthy banana waffles. These waffles are made with wholesome ingredients like bananas, eggs, milk and whole wheat flour. They’re also naturally sweetened with maple syrup and a touch of vanilla.
I love to incorporate ripe bananas in baking, desserts and frozen treats. Their natural sweetness helps you cut down on added sugar and gives recipes an extra boost of nutrition.

Healthy Whole Wheat Banana Waffles
Ingredients
- 2 very ripe bananas
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 and 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mash bananas. Then whisk together maple syrup, milk, olive oil, eggs and vanilla extract.
- In another large bowl, whisk together whole wheat flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and whisk to combine.
- Let the batter rest for 10 minutes.
- Preheat waffle maker. Brush with oil.
- Pour batter onto preheated waffle maker and cook until lightly browned and crispy. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions on timing as each waffle maker is different.
- Serve with maple syrup, whipped cream, nuts or fruits if desired.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator and reheat in the air fryer or oven. They will last 3 to 4 days in the fridge or up to 3 months in the freezer. Enjoy!
