French fries are one of the dishes where an air fryer just rocks!  They’re crispier and cook quicker than an oven.  The small size of the air fryer allows it to heat up quickly and the basket helps it circulate heat more evenly around the fries to make them wonderfully crispy.  Compare to deep frying, you’re saving lots of oil and calories!

Potatoes have a bad rap because they are often deep fried and loaded with salt, like French fries or potato chips.  But they actually are a nutritious food that can be part of a healthy diet when prepared with less oil and salt.

Potatoes are highly nutritious

  • High in vitamin C, potassium, vitamin B6, folate
  • High in fiber for more efficient digestion and regularity
  • Low in fat
  • Contains choline which is important for muscle movement, mood, learning and memory

Tips for making awesome wedge fries:

  • Soak the fries in cold water:  This is the secret to making crispy fries because its draws out the starches.
  • Spread fries on the air fryer basket: Don’t overcrowd them or they won’t be as crispy.
  • Shake them halfway through:  This ensures they are evenly crisp.
  • Serve hot from the air fryer:  If they cool down or if you have leftovers, just pop them in the air fryer for a few minutes and they’ll crisp up again.
  • Don’t peel the potatoes: Most of the nutrients and vitamins are found in the skin of the potato, so save work and nutrients by not peeling them!
