This matcha collagen latte is a perfect pick-me up in the afternoon. Not only does it have the super antioxidants from matcha, it also has collagen powder for skin, hair, nail and joint support.
What is matcha?
Matcha is a Japanese powdered green tea. Young tea leaves are ground into a super fine powder. Then the powder is whisked into hot water to enjoy as a drink. So you are drinking the entire tea leaf and all its health benefits versus regular tea where the tea leaves are steeped in hot water then thrown away.
Matcha is also seen in many foods including cookies, cakes, ice cream and lattes. But why pay such a premium for a latte at the café when you can make the same thing at home for a fraction of the cost? Also, at home you can easily add a scoop of collagen powder for even more health benefits.
What are the health benefits of matcha?
- Loaded with catechins, a type of cancer fighting antioxidants
- Contains a variety of vitamins such as A, B, C, E and K
- May help reduce cholesterol and promote heart health
Does matcha have caffeine?
- Yes, one cup of matcha has 70mg of caffeine per cup compared to coffee which has 96mg per cup
- However, matcha contains a compound called L-theanine which is linked to reducing stress. You get the alertness from caffeine but don’t suffer the crashes that you would get from coffee when the caffeine is out of your system
What are the health benefits of collagen?
